Security Preparations for National Parade Concluded December 16, 2021

All the preparations have been completed for the National Day parade at Doha Corniche on Friday. The National Day parade will be held this year under strict preventive and precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

This was announced by the QND 2021 Security Committee at a press conference on Tuesday.

Head of the Security Committee Brigadier Dr Ali Khujaim Al Adbi said the families of the health sector personnel and the participating bodies only will be allowed to witness the national parade this year through special invitations in compliance with the exceptional precautionary and preventive measures to ensure health and safety of all members of society.

The Organizing Committee has allocated 2,569 seats for the invitees in four platforms.

He said the entry will be for invitees only as one permit for one person, and the attendees must show the Ehteraz application in green status.

They are required to adhere to precautionary and health measures and physical distancing. He said they must stay in their seats and not move till the end of the parade, and avoid smoking, chanting or singing, and should adhere to the designated paths to the parking spaces as specified in the invitation cards.

He said the health measures are aimed at preventing COVID-19 spread, and to maintain the safety of the public. The body temperature of the attendees will be taken, and they must wear face masks, maintain safe distance, and use hand sanitiser.

He also called upon all those invited not to accompany any people with them to the parade, adding that no citizen or resident who does not hold an invitation card will be allowed to enter.

He said the committee is concerned with ensuring security of the parade that starts from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers covering the entire Corniche until the Sheraton Hotel intersection and then towards the direction of Al Fardan Tower and then to Al Barzan Tower, from there to the Theater intersection, then to the Wadi Al-Sail Fire Station intersection, after which it heads to the Al Mannai underpass, then to the Souq Waqif signal, to the Amiri Diwan intersection in the direction of (Fanar), then to Qatar National Bank signals and to the General Secretariat again.

The Corniche waterfront will be completely closed and the public will not be allowed to enter, he added. Entry is only permitted for those authorized through invitations to attend, as each invitee is given an invitation card with a barcode that determines the direction of the car’s path to the parking directly.

He said parking spaces are also allocated for the guests in three locations — Western Bidda parking near Qatar Bowling Center with 792 lots, southern Bidda parking lot with 739 parking spaces, and the northern Bidda parking with 563 lots.

There will be medical units on the Corniche to deal with any emergency situations in addition to the presence of civil defense teams, he said.

Brigadier Dr Al Adbi added that the fireworks will be on the Doha Corniche at 8:30 pm on Friday. He called on the public to follow health requirements and precautionary measures
