No Darb Al Saai for Qatar National Day 2020

The State National Day Celebrations Organizing Committee (SNDCOC) announced that the Darb Al Saai activities will not be held in this year (2020), in view of the current COVID-19 circumstances, hoping that the events will be held during the next year.

The SNDCOC said this precautionary measure is taken to ensure the health and safety for all citizens and residents of the State of Qatar, stressing that this year will witness several other programmes, competitions and seminars, which will be broadcast on the Doha 360 website.

Having said that, the SNDCOC said that the events to be held this year will still be highly distinguished, promoting solidarity, unity and pride in the national identity of the State of Qatar, and drawing inspiration from its society’s authentic values.

The committee stated that this year, the Messila Traditional Horse Race will be held in cooperation with the Racing & Equestrian Club. Other activities will include shooting events in cooperation with the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation, in addition to holding a Falconry Championship in cooperation with the Qatar Al Gannas Society.

The committee also stressed that the new look expected for the Darb Al Saai activities during the coming year 2021 will reflect the vision of the Organizing Committee for the celebrations of the Qatar National Day. These are the promotion of loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in the national identity of the State of Qatar. They will also affirm the committee’s values of participation, inspiration, creativity and transparency.

The committee praised the roles played by all partners, bodies and institutions supporting the National Day activities over the past years, and their keenness on the participation of all the people of Qatar in this great national occasion. This sponsorship reflects the remarkable support for the activities that Darb Al Saai witnesses every year during the celebrations of the National Day of the State.

The SNDCOC offers many privileges to the sponsors, including ads posted on Qatar’s main roads and sites, displaying the sponsors’ logos and distributing them across the country. In addition, they will feature in local newspaper ads, as well as on the SNDCOC’s website.

Among the advantages are also promoting the sponsor on the committee’s social media accounts, introducing the sponsor in press releases, as well as advertisements on the Doha 360 website, and in the VIP Majlis at Darb Al Saai.

The activities of Darb Al Saai contribute to conveying a vivid image of the atmosphere of the past, accompanying visitors to the place on a journey through history, through which visitors witness the lives of the forefathers, with the aim of preserving the heritage and enhancing the values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland.

In this context, the activities of Darb Al-Saai aim to familiarize the current generation with the legacy of the founding generation and the values inherent in the Qatari identity.

Darb Al-Saai has a deep history, as it marks the path used by the delegates who were entrusted by the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani, may God Almighty rest his soul, with his messages and directives.

These brave delegates carried out their dangerous missions on the backs of Qatari camels, reflecting the extent of their sacrifices and courage. On top of all the delegates was Sheikh Ali bin Jassim (Joaan), who was delegated by Sheikh Jassem for sensitive and delicate tasks.
