Darb Al Saai festivities to start today and continue to December 20
DOHA: The festivities of the Qatar National Day will start today with the raising of the flag at Darb Al Saai, the main center of Qatar National Day celebrations at Al Sadd in Doha.
The celebrations will continue for ten days till December 20, and the event will start receiving people today from 3pm and the opening will be in the presence of entities’ representatives and heads of activities participating in the event.
Darb Al Saai will attract people during this ten day on two shifts from 8am to 12noon and from 4pm to 10pm except on Friday when it will receive visitors from 2pm to 11pm and on December 18 from 8am to 2pm because in the evening people will be at the Corniche to celebrate the National Day. Also, December 13 is reserved only for women.
The festivities came to achieve the Qatar National Day vision by strengthening loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in Qatar’s national identity.
Under the motto “Promise of Prosperity and Glory”, Qatar National Day celebrations will start today, and this motto has been taken from a quote of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The committee also used one of Founder’s poem verses to be an inspiration for the Qatari population.
Regarding the meaning of Darb Al Saai, the name means the “Path of the Messenger” used by the delegates whom the country’s founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani would entrust to deliver his instructions and directives.
These heroes were known for their outstanding characteristic and carried out this dangerous mission by using Qatari camels.
The activities at Darb Al Saai aim at apprising the present generation of the extraordinary qualities of delegates “Menadib” who were in complete chosen to perform this special task.
The National Day organizing committee has allocated a huge area for parking lot for the visitors with dedicated parking spaces for people with special needs. The committee allocated parking areas for school buses taking into account the safety measures of students.
The committee has also offered medical services and ambulances in collaboration with a number of medical institutions under the supervision of Hamad Medical Corporation. Also there is a trained team to deal with VIP people.
It also keened to offer all facilities that visitors may need, like teams to help in case of missing kids, and three restrooms for the public.
Among the entities participating in the festivities are the Ministry of Municipality and Environment through an activity to raise awareness among visitors on how to maintain the environment and to guide them about the provided services.
Among other entities participating in Darb Al Saai are the General Directorate of Civil Defence, Qatar Development Bank, the Ministry of Defence and QF for Social Work.
